TEFL Certificate Course
The
on-line CTEFL Class format:
Course
Length: 3 weeks online. 6-hour practice teaching component
is to be completed within 6 months after the 3-week on-line program.
Lesson
Frequency: 2-4 classes daily, (M-F) plus supplementary
tasks and written assignments.
Average
Daily Time Needed For This Course: Interns should set
aside 2-3 hours per day (M-F) to complete each day's work. Occasional
written assignments may require some work over the weekends.
Assignment
Schedule: Approximately three per week, plus regular Campus
Discussion Forum attendance.
Interactive
Requirements: Interns must take an active part in on-line
forums and other "special" events unique to each on-line
class, including any on-line group class projects. (Schedules will
be posted on the Virtual Campus Website).
Other
Requirements: The 6-hour practice teaching component
is to be completed by the TEFL intern before certification will
be issued. This requirement may be fulfilled in the student's own
local area. Interns may begin their practice teaching after the
main three week online program has concluded.
Practice
Teaching Options include: You will find a variety
of options for completing the required practice teaching component.
Options include local Literacy Volunteer programs, Private Language
Schools, Library Programs, even classes that you set up yourself
(upon approval of your Faculty Advisor). It is the student's responsibility
to arrange this 6-hour practice.

The

Course

an 8-10 page "micro-thesis" within 6 weeks from the end
of the on-line portion of the course. (Students will have the opportunity
to begin work on this project during the two weeks of the course).
Certification will be issued upon satisfactory completion of all
components of the course.
